So let’s Start with MXL 770 Review, the MXL 770 is a great entry-level microphone for those looking to get started in the recording.

When we talk about the design it has a nice design, a Black colour body with a gold plated line which gives it a really nice look. It has a metal body and a mesh grill on the top.
On the backside of the body, it has 2 switches one for the 0-10dB pad which helps you to decrease the signal of the mic cause if your microphone sound is louder and another switch is for the Roll base-off to decrease the frequency caught by the mic.
MXL 770 Features:
MXL 770 is an XLR Microphone and it requires 48V Phantom power, Frequency response rate of 770 is 30hz to 20khz allowing a wide range of sounds to capture. it has a cardioid polar pattern microphone.
It comes along with a Nice Storage Case and a Shock mount, No XLR cables are included you have to buy the cable or you can use any XLR cable available in your studio.
One thing more please, Keep in mind it is a condenser XLR microphone that needs phantom power you need a separate power supply for that. The quality of XLR cable also adds value to the performance don’t go for the cheap XLR cables.

MXL 990 Review
Now we are reviewing MXL 990 microphone. At the start, I mentioned I have reviewed this microphone in the detail in another article I considered this microphone as a retro-designed microphone.
MXL 990 Design:
It has an all-metal body with silver colouring, and a mesh grill on the top, it is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone, ideal for musicians, vocals and other recording purposes. With a durable construction no ON/OFF or Roll Bass Filter Switches,
MXL 990 Features:
Talking about the features of the MXL 990, It is a Condensor microphone with a cardioid polar pattern. Has a frequency response rate of 20hz to 20khz.
MXL 990 is an Xlr microphone with a 48V Panthom power requirement. It does not run by just plugging into any device but it requires a separate power supply.
It can not handle the loud sources, So the quality cables and a soundproof studio will result in great sound quality which will make you happy.

MXL 770 vs 990 Comparision
So Here comes the Comparision between, mxl 770 and mxl 990 microphones, both are products of mxl companies.
Both are condenser microphones and Having Cardioid polar patterns, MXl 770 is black in the colour with a gold line on the other hand mxl 990 has a silver colour body and black line, both have metal bodies
mxl 770 has a small diaphragm, and mxl 990 has a large diaphragm
there is not much difference in the design so the colour is the main difference in the design. and minor difference in the dimensions, mxl 770 is a little taller and 990 is a little extra wider than 770.
On the back of mxl 770, it has 2 switches for the roll bass filter and a 0-10 dp pad switch. and the mxl 990 comes without the switches.
MXL 770 has a 30-20khz frequency response range and 990 has a 20hz-20khz frequency range.
I don’t know about others but if you will buy from Amazon, mxl 770 and mxl 990 both come with a shock mount, microphone stand adapter & carrying or storage case.
MXl 770 is more versatile and multi-purpose microphone than the mxl 990, 770 is also a Budget-Friendly option. some times due to discounts on online stores you get mxl 990 at a discounted price.
