So you want to voice chat with your friends in-game, but don’t know what mic is the best mic for discord? Well, worry no more!
I am going to review the top best discord mics. I will make sure to provide quality information about these products so you can make an informed decision on what the best mic for discord is.
Before I start, however, let me explain a few things concerning audio and how different mics treat it.
A lot of people like to think that mics can be judged almost purely on their sample rate and bit depth (16/24) but this simply isn’t true (and it isn’t even true for other audio either). The way a microphone preamps and amplifies incoming sound is what makes or breaks it.
Some mics just don’t have the quality to amplify low frequencies properly, resulting in an unbalanced/tinny sound that gets drowned by loud noises. Furthermore, noise gates and compression might be used on cheaper mics to ensure that they don’t “pop” on loud sounds, but this often results in dulling the high-frequency content and removing some of the nuances of your voice.
So get ready for an impassioned speech about audio fidelity! I’ll be covering all of these topics and hopefully illustrating why there’s more to microphones than just the spec sheet.
What is discord?
Yes, many people have this question in mind, what is discord?
Discord is a gaming app that allows individuals all over the world to connect and speak freely using messages, video chatting, and voice chatting. It has become commonplace for gamers and streamers to use it on a daily basis.
One of the most critical tools a player may have is a discord mic. It not only allows you to interact with your teammates, but it also allows them to hear what’s going on in the game, giving you an advantage over your competitors. There are so many different mics out there that finding the correct one for you might be difficult.
Discord is a proprietary freeware VoIP application and digital distribution platform designed for video gaming communities, that specializes in text, image, video, and audio communication between users in a chat channel.
Discord runs on Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, Linux, and web browsers. Discord is specifically optimized for use while gaming.
Discord allows users to send messages and images to other users in a chat channel. Users can also call upon an automated robot user known as a bot, that can trigger customizable commands, such as utility functions or entertainment features, when certain conditions occur.
The service became popular with Twitch streamers and the gaming community at large, who wanted to communicate either publicly or privately during live play sessions. Discord’s client is built around the voice chat component that enables users to talk online using headphones and a microphone.
Discord’s design is based on that of Skype, but for the gaming community. It initially became popular with Twitch users and grew from there. Discord allows gamers to communicate over a variety of platforms, including Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, and Linux as well as on web browsers via a Chrome app.
Let’s start with the first best mic for discord!

On top of that, Blue has included a couple of light-up indicators when the microphone senses an error with your recording. This is great because it will help inform you if there are problems with your configuration or drivers.
Sound Quality: The Blue Yeti is a condenser microphone. The type of mic you want to use all depends on what sound you are going for, but because this mic has a condenser and is relatively cheap, I feel like it should be a fantastic way to save money and get great quality!
When reading this section please remember that I am only reviewing the sound quality of the microphones and not using any effects or processing to my voice.
This may skew your view on certain sounds, so make sure you try both with and without effects before deciding which is better for you!
Please note that sound quality is subjective so my views on sound quality are just that, MY VIEWS. No two people hear the same thing the same way so take what you will out of this article!
Other Features: The Yeti X allows you to record directly to your computer. While the Yeti is plug and play on most systems, there are some things that require configuration of settings to make it work perfectly.
For example, if you use the Yeti on Windows 10 you will need to install the Yeti app in order for the device to work properly. This is not necessary on my Mac, but if you are recording voiceovers on your PC with Windows 7 or 10, then you will need this software.

Conclusion 🟢
Blue Yeti X is better than other similar models as per my review and research.
As it has 4 condensers and other yeti mics have 2 or 3 condensers, Blue Yeti X has a High-res Leg metering, and gains control through a multi-purpose dial is a plus point of this microphone.
Blue Yeti X, I am happy to announce that is an excellent upgrade from its predecessor. The mic has unnoticeable latency and zeroes noise in recordings. They certainly packed in a lot of new features and upgrades in the Yeti X.

I think it’s safe to say that this is the end of our NT-USB mini evaluation. My first impression was also my last, I don’t see any reason to take it off since. It’s small, lightweight looks professional, and sounds great. What else can you ask from a microphone?
5. Razer Seiren X
Now we are going to review one of the best-budget microphones for streaming, gaming, and live sessions Razer Seiren X.
The Razer Seiren X is a digital home recording microphone that falls somewhere in the mid-price range of microphones for this purpose. It’s not exactly cheap, nor is it extremely expensive. This makes it excellent for its intended use which is to serve as a beginner recording mic, but it still has the quality to be used by professionals.
About the Company:
Razer is a multinational Singaporean-American technology company that designs and produces electric devices and gaming accessories.it was founded in 1998.
Best For The:
Razer Seiren X is designed to increase the quality of streams, Best for the streamers and gamers looking for very budget-friendly microphones, not good for musicians or recording purposes.
Product Design and Description:
Here coming to the point, the design and the features of the Razer Seiren X microphone. It has a Plastic body and metal mesh grille on the front side.
The Seiren X comes with many features that make it stand out from other mics in its price range. It is USB powered so no need for an external power supply, it’s fully plugged and played, and you don’t have to install any drivers either.
It has the ability to switch between various polar patterns which are selected by a single button on the mic itself, no software is required. The mic also has an onboard headphone jack so you can listen to yourself as you record directly from your headphones if you prefer.
The Seiren X is a condenser mic so it requires power from a USB port and can’t be plugged into a wall outlet. I mention this specifically because the box itself doesn’t specify this, so if you were to receive one as a gift or purchase one second-hand, make sure it comes with the necessary USB power supply (which is also the same for most condensers mics).
Front below the Grille, it has a headphone volume controller, for the mic to gain control you have to control it from the computer preferences. It has a small mute button with two lights – Green shows the mic is on and the red light on the button indicates it’s muted.
AT the button it has a USB cable port to connect with the computer and a 3.5mm headphone jack, with a stand.
Points to be Noted: Another thing worth mentioning though is that when recording with the mic, make sure to keep your mouth around 2-3 inches away from the grill.
This is because the pickup pattern of this mic is cardioid which means it will pick up sounds directly in front of itself but little to none on the sides or behind, so if you are closer than 2 inches your voice may sound more echoey and it’ll have a harder time separating your voice from background noise, and if you were to be farther than 3 inches away the mic would probably struggle to pick up your voice at all.
Razer Seiren X Specifications:
- Frequency range: 20hz to 20khz
- Supported with USB Cable
- Zero-latency Monitoring
- Super-Cardioid Polar pattern
- Max: Sound Pressure Level: 110dB
- Headphone jack: 3.5mm
- OS Requirement Mini: Mac 10.12 / Windows 10
- Perfect Sound Quality
- Zero-latency monitoring mode
- Supported by USB Cable
- Great value in a budget price
- Easy to use – Plug and play
- Plastic body
- Single Polar Pattern
- Not good for recordings
Rating Based on Research and Experience:
4.0 out of 5
Conclusion 🟢
I already have added this microphone in the best streaming mics, so no doubt it’s the budget-friendly streaming mic for the streamers and gamers. There are also more high-quality mics but those are pretty expensive. The Razer Seiren X is an alright microphone but with a few flaws that could be improved upon by future models especially since higher-end competitors out there like the Blue Yeti exist. It would’ve been nice if the tri-capture feature worked well but it seems to do alright with simple audio recording programs like Audacity. Aside from that, this microphone will definitely make an impact for YouTubers and Twitch streamers who are looking into higher-quality recordings for their videos or streams respectively. Thanks to everyone again for reading through another blog of mine,
